Calculation Methodology & Data Sources

All Shkali tools are based on official Israeli government and financial sources.

01

Official Sources

Income tax brackets, Bituah Leumi rates, freelancer thresholds, pension limits, and VAT percentages are based on publications from the Israel Tax Authority, Bituah Leumi, the Ministry of Finance, and the Bank of Israel.

02

Income Tax Calculation

Israeli income tax is calculated using progressive tax brackets, tax credits (nekudot zikui), and approved deductions according to the 2026 tax year.

03

Bituah Leumi & Health Tax

Self-employed Bituah Leumi payments are calculated using the official two-tier system: 5.97% and 17.83%, based on income thresholds updated for 2026.

04

Pension & Keren Hishtalmut

Pension and training fund calculations follow Israeli self-employed pension regulations and tax deduction rules.

05

VAT & Osek Patur Threshold

Current VAT rate: 18%. Osek Patur annual revenue ceiling for 2026: ₪122,833.

06

Advance Tax Payments

Advance tax estimates are calculated based on projected annual profit and formulas commonly used by the Israel Tax Authority.

07

Accuracy & Responsibility

Important: Israeli tax laws change frequently. Always consult a certified Israeli CPA or tax advisor before making important financial decisions.

Accessibility & Security

Shkali follows an Accessibility First approach.

  • Minimal third-party plugins — many accessibility overlays break screen readers and slow down websites.
  • Accessibility is built into the code — semantic HTML, ARIA attributes, keyboard navigation, and WCAG-compliant contrast ratios.
  • Privacy focused — we avoid invasive third-party tracking systems whenever possible.
  • Responsive interface — optimized for all screen sizes and both RTL and LTR languages.

Lead Developer

akava.site

Shkali was created by an independent Israeli developer with years of experience building SaaS products and financial tools. The project was born from a real need to simplify the financial reality of freelancers in Israel.

Good financial information should not be expensive. Many existing tools are outdated, overly complicated, or locked behind subscriptions. Shkali was built as a modern alternative.
